Damask is a type of woven fabric with stylized or floral designs with a glossy-opaque effect. The classic damask, in silk, is a woven fabric with warp and weft of the same color, in which, however, the design stands out significantly from the background by contrasting brightness. This contrast results from the use in the background and in the work, respectively, of the chain and tama effects of the same and suitable armor.
